ByteBellSoftware is an open-source, non-profit software studio building privacy-first tools and community projects. Founded by students in the Netherlands, the studio operates fully in the open — zero tracking, MIT licensed, free forever.
About — Long Boilerplate
ByteBellSoftware (BBS) is an open-source software studio based in the Netherlands, founded by students with the goal of building useful, privacy-respecting software and releasing it freely to the community. The studio's flagship project is PassPy Manager — a 100% local, AES-256 encrypted password manager built in Python that never sends data over the network. ByteBellSoftware operates on the principles of radical openness: all source code is public under the MIT license, there is no tracking or analytics on any project, and everything is free forever. The studio is community-driven and welcomes contributors of all skill levels through its Discord server and GitHub organization.

PassPy Manager
A fully local, open-source password manager written in Python. All data stays on your machine — nothing is sent over the network. Uses AES-256 encryption via Fernet, PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 key derivation and a master-password protected vault. Available at passpymanager.bytebellsoftware.nl.
ByteBell Bot
A custom Discord bot built with discord.js v14 running on a self-hosted Proxmox server with MariaDB backend. Features include economy (ByteCoin), skill badges, support tickets, moderation tools, role management and server statistics. Powers the official BBS Discord server.
Logo Usage Guidelines
Do
- Use on dark or very dark backgrounds
- Maintain clear space around the logo
- Use the full name "ByteBellSoftware" in body text
- Abbreviate as "BBS" after first mention
- Link to bytebellsoftware.nl when used online
Don't
- Recolor the logo to non-brand colors
- Use on white or light backgrounds without dark bg
- Stretch, rotate or distort the logo
- Imply endorsement or official partnership
- Use in political, misleading or harmful contexts
